New Educational Resource to Help Conserve Turtles of Laos

Staff from the Department of Livestock and Fisheries (DLF) and WWF Laos use the Turtles in Laos pamphlet to identify and complete a field record for a turtles found near Don Deng Village in Savannakhet Province, Laos PDR.

WWF Laos Greater Mekong Program has produced a new set of educational materials focused on the conservation of tortoises and freshwater turtles.

The new resources include a poster depicting illustrations of all 16 native species and a small identification pamphlet.  The pamphlet also includes a survey form for people working in the field who come across turtles, and instructions on how to complete and report their findings.

One of the aims of the initiative is to collect more information about the known distribution of tortoises and freshwater turtles in Laos.

The illustrations used for the new resources were contributed by Education for Nature ? Vietnam and the Vietnam-based Asian Turtle Program.
