According to XXX, on October 10, 2005, the Traffic Police Station 51 of Nghe An Provincial Traffic Police Department confiscated a total of 120 kilos of turtles. Among the confiscated turtles were seven giant Asian pond turtles (Heosemys grandis), three yellow headed temple turtles (Hieremys annandalii), 85 elongated tortoises (Indotestudo elongata), 12 Asian leaf turtles (Cyclemys tcheponensis), eight Malayan snail eating turtles (Malayemys subtrijuga), five black marsh turtles (Siebenrockiella crassicollis), one Indochinese box turtle (Cuora galbinifrons) and three Asian box turtles (Cuora amboinensis). The police then transferred the animals to the local FPD for settlement.

On October 17, 2005, the RO contacted the Nghe An FPD for further information. According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Son, staff of the Mobile Force in Dien Chau District of the Nghe An FPD, the information was correct. All the turtles were hidden on a truck with the number plate of X driven by Mr. XXX who was a resident of Hanoi. The owner of the shipment was Mr. XXX residing in XXXXX Binh Dinh Province. The FPD then passed the turtles to the Pu Mat National Park in Nghe An Province for holding. They also gave the owner the administrative punishment according to the Governmental Decree 139.
